Author Guidelines

General Information

Al-‘Arabiyya: Journal of Arabic Language, Literature, and Pedagogy publishes original scholarly works in the fields of Arabic language studies, Arabic literature, and Arabic language education (pedagogy). The journal welcomes manuscripts that have not been previously published or submitted to other journals.


General Guidelines

  1. Manuscripts must be original, free from plagiarism, and not under consideration elsewhere.

  2. Manuscripts may be written in Arabic, Indonesian, or English.

  3. If the manuscript has been presented at a seminar or conference, the author must clearly state the event name and date.

  4. Manuscripts should be prepared using Microsoft Word (.DOC or .RTF), A4 paper size, single-column format.

  5. Font: Century, size 11 pt, 1.0 line spacing.

  6. Tables, figures, and images must be embedded in the text, properly titled, numbered, and referenced.

  7. The length of the manuscript should be 4,500–7,000 words, including references.

Title

  • Concise and informative

  • Maximum 15 words

  • Written in Indonesian and English

Author(s)

  • Full name(s) without academic titles

  • Institutional affiliation

  • Email address of the corresponding author

Abstract

  • Written in Indonesian and English

  • 200–250 words, single paragraph, single-spaced

  • For research articles: objectives, methods, and main findings

  • For review articles: scope, focus, and key arguments

Keywords

  • 3–5 keywords reflecting the main concepts of the article


Main Sections

Introduction

  • Background and significance of the study

  • Relevant literature review

  • Research gap and novelty

  • Research objectives

Methodology (for research articles)

  • Research design and approach

  • Data sources

  • Data collection techniques

  • Data analysis methods

(Review articles may omit this section or adapt it accordingly.)

Results and Discussion

  • Clear presentation of findings

  • Analytical discussion linked to relevant theories and previous studies

  • Tables and figures must be clearly explained and discussed in the text

Conclusion

  • Summary of key findings

  • Academic contribution and implications

  • Suggestions for future research

  • Avoid repetition of previous sections


References and Citation Style

  1. References must be relevant and preferably published within the last 10 years.

  2. The journal uses APA Style – 7th Edition (American Psychological Association, 7th Edition).

  3. Footnotes are used for in-text citations.

  4. Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley or Zotero.

Special References

  • Qur’an: Mention surah name, surah number, and verse number
    (e.g., Qs. Al-Mu’min [40]: 43)

  • Hadith: Mention the compiler’s name
    (e.g., H.R. al-Bukhari; Muslim)


Types of Articles

Research Articles

  • Empirical or theoretical research

  • Structured according to standard research format

  • Length: 4,500–7,000 words

Review Articles

  • Critical analysis of existing literature related to Arabic language, literature, or pedagogy

  • Should demonstrate scholarly depth and originality

  • Maximum 7,000 words


Submission Process

  1. Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system (OJS).

  2. All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process.

  3. Authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts based on reviewers’ comments.

  4. The editorial decision includes: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

Al-‘Arabiyya: Journal of Arabic Language, Literature, and Pedagogy does not charge any fees for submission, peer review, editorial processing, or publication.


Copyright and License

Authors retain the copyright of their work and grant the journal a non-exclusive right of first publication. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA 4.0) license.


Archiving Policy

The journal supports self-archiving and long-term preservation through institutional repositories and the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN).
